Nevada EcoNet is dedicated to improving our community by being a center for environmental education and information.
Organized in 1990 by a group of local citizens, Nevada EcoNet planned the first Reno Earth Day Celebration and is now working on the 21st annual event. Earth Day brings the regional community together in one place to showcase the organizations, non-profits and government agencies working towards the goal of sustainable communities for the public.
Nevada EcoNet brings information to the community through a variety of other events, publications, and partnerships including:
The Nevada EcoNet Green Guide – published in book form and available online at our website
The Nevada EcoNet Calendar - providing information about upcoming sustainability events in our region
Earth Day – each April, Nevada EcoNet hosts Earth Day for Northern Nevada
Pinecone Ball – held each November celebrating the Environmental Champions of our Region
Organic Uncorked – an organic food and wine tasting event

Wondering who’s behind this blog? My name is Megan…I’m a board member for Nevada EcoNet and a graduate student at UNR in the Interactive Environmental Journalism program. I used to live in Vegas and worked for a pretty well-known resort, the Palms, where my graphic artists and I started a green initiative to make the hotel more eco-friendly. It was that environmental passion that brought me back up to Reno, where life just seems a little more green!
